The shutdown occurred as Australian banks implemented stronger fraud prevention measures and upgraded their security systems, which proved incompatible with POLi’s payment processing method. Additionally, the rapid growth of the New Payments Platform (NPP) and services like PayID offered Australian players faster, more secure alternatives that integrate directly with their bank accounts without requiring third-party processors.
